This wonderful story set in Victorian Britain on a cold Christmas Eve, tells of the transformation of Ebeneezer Scrooge, from a cold hearted miser to a carefree, child-like person. Scrooge's epiphany is brought about by the visitation to him of his dead partner Jacob Marley and three ghosts, the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future. A Christmas Carol, although occurring at a different time, still holds values and lessons that are important in society today. It teaches us that greed and money will lead to peril, while kindness and generosity of spirit are all that are needed to lead to personal happiness. Scrooge comes to the realisation that this applies not only to Christmas and states "I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year", a lovely thought for any time.
